New Year / New home / New Cutture

 Cutture update // New Year, New Home, New Business

We do hope the start of 2018 has been a good one for all our clients and followers! January is a great time to regroup, re-evaluate and reflect on the past year’s successes and challenges, and without sounding like a round Robin at Christmas time we do feel it’s time to give you a little update..

We have so much to share over the coming months after a year of providing invitations for some incredible events globally, we are currently gathering content to provide some inspiration for you via our social channels and newsletter. Christmas was a busy time as ever, we have been creating some beautiful Christmas party invitations, bespoke Christmas cards and marketing collateral for some incredible brands, notably November saw 42,000 laser cut tags we created for Molton Brown leave the workshop! This was just one element of their marketing campaign for Christmas we helped on, but there will be more on that in a separate post.

In house

Each year we focus on a ‘theme’ for the year, last year was ‘organisation’, spending countless hours finalising systems we have set up and processes to help our small team run smoothly, in an ever-changing tech world you’ve got to roll with the times… working on the detail to help the big picture, this year we are focussing on ‘implementation’, making it happen after an enlightening 2017.

Alongside winning 2 major industry awards and continuing to adapt and grow for our bespoke offering, there has been alot of change happening behind the scenes.

Farewell Fulham

2017 has seen the close of our London studio, we made the big and brave decision to move our studio as well as our workshop as 2,700sq ft of space in Fulham really was no longer required since moving the workshop up to Bedfordshire. It’s been tough, we poured our heart into the renovation of Bridge Studios having only just moved in in 2013, in that time our family grew, the team has grown and shrunk respectively and it’s been a time of learning many, many business lessons, alongside growing the Brand to the place where we are today. So with a heavy heart we left our plant walls and beautiful studio in June and have embarked on a life of remote working, which is revolutionary! We have also said goodbye to Emi and Lettie in 2017, both have been an incredible support, asset and talent to Cutture and we wish them both a huge amount of success moving forward. We have welcomed Mia as a senior designer who has brought a fresh new design perspective to the table and Claire is now also back on a part-time basis after maternity leave which is fantastic.

Hello Laser Bureau

The workshop is open in Bedfordshire and we begin the year by announcing that this has now become a company in it’s own right. Laser Bureau is now a fully fledged company offering a trade laser cutting service, focussing on paper cutting for large or smaller runs. It’s an incredibly exciting development, with 6 months in the setting up and now, we have a separate company to offer the print trade and many other areas from product and packaging design to our very own event industry. This is a laser cutting service totally separate to Cutture but with our experienced heads at the helm.

Over the past 2 years we gained investment to purchase a Motioncutter which arrived in 2016, we have spent the time since perfecting settings, this is an incredibly high-speed laser cutter with some very exciting features on it, from easy personalisation to cutting in motion, this machine is one of only a few in the UK and we are very pleased to be able to now offer high volume at speed and, crucially, with high quality to match.

Cutture’s work will continue to be made by Laser Bureau with our production team transferring over to this company. Chris Demott is the new Managing Director of Laser Bureau, Chris has been with us for nearly 2 years as production manager and with the experience he now has with Cutture (and our unique ways!) on top of 20 years in the print industry we know Laser Bureau is in good hands. Tracey Fisher, who has been with Cutture for almost a year is now Operations manager, with her organised ways she will ensure your product is delivered in a timely fashion and her eagle eyes are there for quality control!

Cutture at The Wedding Gallery

So now production is a separate company, that means changes for Cutture itself… Cutture will have a permeant London office again, however right now we are working remotely with 2 spaces where you can find us in London. We are meeting with our wedding clients in the beautiful Wedding Gallery where we have a space displaying our wedding stationery and styling products, see here for a detailed run down of what we have on offer there and a look around the incredible space that is ‘the world’s first wedding department store’. The Wedding Gallery is a huge success already and full of inspiration for couples and event planners, be sure to check it out.

Co working at The Stanley Building

Our main space for internal meetings and meeting with clients is in the, now very chic, Kings Cross St Pancras area, the Stanley Building is our co-working space of choice with The Office Group, where you will find a friendly welcome and fabulous surroundings. More often that not we are visiting the luxury Brands we are currently working with in their own offices so please feel free to ask us to come and see you in the comfort of your own space where we can present to the whole team.

And Finally

We are currently focussing our time and energy on the all new Cutture, a scaled back, refined Brand, smaller team, big ideas, and focussing solely on bespoke event stationery work and added value to our clients. We have many plans up our sleeves but we are creating realistic deadlines to make that happen, we will be introducing the team soon, but for now keep checking in as we will be updating our site with all of the incredible projects we have been working on over the past couple of years. We have many we sadly can’t share due to NDA’s, however what we can we hope will continue to inspire and spark your imaginations as to the possibilities when working with us. We’ve updated the client list on our home page, that in itself is a pinch me moment for us and we hope you can see that these brands truly value our work and are proof in the pudding that investing in great design provides the right results.
